Two mergers punctuated the history of Promutuel Verchères. In 1980, the parish Mutuals of Saint-Marc and Verchères joined their destinies in creating the Fire Mutual Association of Verchères. Then in 1985, a third Mutual, that of Varennes, joined the ranks to form the present Mutual Association. The rapid progression resulting from these fusions together with the increase in staff prompted the Mutual, in 1986 to purchase a building located in Saint-Marc-sur-Richelieu to permanently base the head office.
