Home > About us About us The creation of the Mutual dates back to 1926 in the Amos parish. It operated out of the town's agricultural Cooperative offices. In order to expand its territory, the parish mutual became a county mutual in 1950. With the restructuring of the insurance law, the Mutual changed its corporate name and its mandate was broadened. Aware of the vastness of its territory, the Mutual opened up its first branch in La Sarre in 1978. The year 1983 marked an important step in its development with the purchase of a building in Amos and the setting up of its head office. And in 1984, a second branch was opened in Val-d'Or. In 1985, the fire Mutual of Abitibi continued to grow with the merger of the fire Mutual of Ferme-Neuve to make up today's Promutuel L'Abitibienne. Subsequently came the openings of other offices, notably in Mont-Laurier and Saint-Jovite which contributed to the sales force of the L'Abitibienne General Insurance Mutual Company.
